Do I have to buy my fiance an engagement ring as well?

My wonderful boyfriend proposed to me last weekend (in the middle of Times Square!) and did so with bent knee and an engagement ring. The answer was an absolute "yes", but now I wonder, do I have to get him an engagement ring as well? It's kinda tricky being a gay marriage, as tradition is the woman usually won't buy one for the man. So I'm not sure if there's a different set of traditions for us, or if it's making it up as we go. It just seemed strange that I have a ring now and he doesn't. I don't mind either way- just want things to be fair
 
Hello roo congratulations on your engagement. For me and for fairness sake I think you should give him an engagement ring too but not to the point that you’ll propose too. Wish you two all the happiness in this world. God bless you both =)
