Hi guys, for the last few months i have the feeling of something stuck in my throat and tight throat and weird burps and a weird taste in my mouth that comes and goes. I have never had heart burn that i know of. It all started one day after i had pizza i thought u had something stuck in my throat and it just took off from there. Also this weird i have been getting weird feeling in the middle of my chest and kinda the left shoulder blade
.
Went to my gp and he game me stuff for acid reflux 40mg nexazole once a day, took for maybe a month but done nothing for me so I stopped. Going back to him tomorrow what meRAB can i ask for to try for lpr?

Thanks.

Maybe talk to him about GABA a-antagonists, which shut down feeling to the area. Lyrica is the newest one.

All this ppi stuff does absolutely nothing for the lump in the throat for me too, and it seems to not help the people on these pages. The best thing to do is just deal with actually resolving the annoying symptoms, and that would be Lyrica or something like that.

Plus, for some reason the doctors don't mention solving this problem with GABA a-antagonists, however, I emailed several doctors and said, "have you "cured" LPR with lyrica before?" One answered and said yes.

Also, Jamie Koufman, the big LPR expert, as if there were an expert, mentioned in a very recent article treating a guy with LPR with lyrica and elavil (an anti-depressant). His issues stopped. She downplays it, saying she prefers to use ppis, but who knows why? Maybe the big drug makers pay her to treat it with ppis or something? I don't know. Conspiracies aside, I recommend asking for lyrica if the ppis aren't working.

Hello Colin1,
Obviously, I can't tell you if you have LPR or not but your symptoms could indicate a variety of things. The medication Nexazole, is a PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) and is most effective when it is taken before the first meal of the day or before the Proton Pumps have a chance to be turned on. I don't know how you were instructed to take this medication.
Since LPR can exist without symptoms, you may have had this for sometime and the pizza aggravated the situation, resulting in symptoms. You may want to ask your physician to perform an endoscopy to actually visualize the lining of your esophagus. You may have some gastric erosion or a condition call H.pylori (some facilities can determine H.pylori by blood tests or breath tests). You could also have a hiatal hernia.
Hope this helps.

go to an ENT and get a laryngoscopy to see if you have any lesions, if the posterior commisure, interarytenoid area is swollen BAM you have LPR (you seem to have a lot of the symptoms) has your voice changed at all?
