DO headlines like this really annoy you?

Yes it is annoying, not only has he run his bank into the ground, he has then been paid massive bonuses and a big pension.

Because there have been threats to other bankers by a secret organisation so not only will the police be involved, so will special branch and the greatly expanded security services.

My neighbour had his window broken last month, and the police refused to send anyone out because there were no witnesses to who did it.

The headline doesnt annoy me theyre meant to be like that but I know what you mean by saying that if it were you or I, the police wouldnt be 'hunting' theyd probably just make a few phonecalls lol

Yes it does, on many levels:

Sensationalism by the press - probably just some techy types trying to trace the sender of the threatening email;
Idiot use of CAPITAL letters;
Repeated use of Fred Goodwin's nickname - not funny;
The idea that he deserves any more protection than your average Joe.

They could catch them in 2 seconds, Edinburgh University students union, collect information on all the recent students groups that have been planning group discussions or taking part in them about the state of the country, anarchist groups. Subtract from that the ones who's families are high up in society especially in finance. More than likely it was a student, a student from a well off back ground who would have connections through his family to Fred the Shred and known where he lived.

The ones who did it knew he wasn't going to be in
This is true, rich people don't view money or items the same way ordinary folk do, smashing up a merc means its somebody from a rich background. Any other person from a working family wouldn't dream of smashing somebody's car up like that. Well i know i wouldn't. I think the cops know who it is already and are just waiting for the next attack and will be waiting for them.

Someone smashed a window in our car a few years ago. The police must have spent all of 10 minutes on the investigation. It must be nice to get special treatment.

The headline no because that is all it is - hunt brings up an image of 100's of police doing a fingertip search whilst the big hard CID bloke is barking out his instructions back at the Nick.

When in reality it is one copper on the phone tracking down someone who sent an email to the newspaper.

Lonely copper sips tea and uses the phone to track vandals doesn't have the same ring nor would sell newspapers.

The reality of it is I am more pissed that any time is being spent on Fred the Shed - he wasn't there no damage was done to him - give him a crime number like the rest of us. And before anyone bleats on about his family - I also have family and that is what happened to me..... He has had enough from the tax payer - if he wants special protection let him pay for it - least some of his money may then employee someone for a change.

It's not one of my pet hates. The Police probably aren't even hunting for anything, it's just a media hype.

Sensationalism nothing more nothing less and it wouldn't surprise me at all to find some reporter had payed some yobs to do just that.

When i was burgled they gave me a crime reference number over the phone, same when my neighbours car was smashed up, he got a crime reference number they were not interested, i seems to me if you rich your more worthy to the police, and were supposed to be a classless country.

It's disappointing to be confronted with the reality of the true divide between the haves and have nots. When your average Joe is burgled, police will not necessarily bother coming out at all. And when they do, it can be hours later.

This offence would be classified as low priority had it been one of us ordinary folk.

That even the police prioritise certain people for better service is appalling and I'd love to hear what the Police Chief has to say about it.

Bet the Police didn't tell fred-the-shred
" we'll be round in 2 days,
catch the vandals yourself "

Yes this headline is a dead give away the Police have different priorities for different sections of society.
