Do guests usually chat during the first dance and father/daughter dance?

I've only been to 3 weddings in my life, and all 3 times the guests were SO LOUD during the special dances. I was actually kind of shocked. I was thought the guests would be looking at the bride and groom and father and bride during their dances.. Iguess I was wrong??

Is it just me? Do you find it weird that the guests make it so noisy during the dance?
I'm getting sick of you CindyLou. Not only are you rude, but you don't even pay attention to the question. I didn't say ANYTHING about me. I simply commented on an observation I had, and asked if it was standard procedure. The only person who needs to clean up their attitude is you.

I'm a DJ and I've noticed that more often than not, people are talking and socializing during the different events.

They are most quiet for the bride and groom's first dance.

Puleeeze. People come to a wedding reception to socialize. It is not the same as if they were talking all through the wedding ceremony, although people do talk then too. You were wrong to think all eyes would be glued to the bride and groom for ever second of the wedding and reception. There is nothing wrong here but your attitude

People weren't chatting during these things at my wedding, but I have been at several weddings where they were talking. I also find it weird and rude that people chat during these special dances.

People will definitely be talking, but I'd appreciate if it was done quietly out of respect.

Yes, sorry, but at all the weddings I go to not that many pay attention to this element of the reception. Just enjoy the dance with your father. That is all that matters.
