Do fish tank heaters raise your electric bill?

I just got a 55 gallon tank. I was thinking about getting tropical fish and I was wondering how much a heater would raise my bill. I do not have central heat, I just have the small heaters along the base board on 2 walls in the room with the tank. Most people have said it will raise it a few dollars for a 10 gallon tank but I was wondering for a 55 gallon tank. Ideas?

I run 5 tanks in the house with multiple filters and heaters, plus lighting and other equipment .... and I do track my electric bills (rural co-op = higher prices for electricity).

I've seen only a $1 (average) monthly increase total over the last 3 years... and I keep adding tanks.

If the heater is appropriately sized to begin with it won't really be on much... so you shouldn't see any increase over your current bill.

If operating costs are an issue just shop your filters so that they still have adequate flow but still use the lowest amps, and limit the lighting time.

Au contraire, there should only be a minuscule increase to your monthly bill (depending on the price of electricity per kWh), and fishkeeping technology is quite economical nowadays.
