Do financial aid stop after certain years?

Hi

I'm just wondering do schools stop giving financial aid after the student has completed a certain amount of credits/years?

My parents keep telling me this which has me worrying because I dont' think I can finish in 4 years. I need to know about schools like SDSU, UCSD, University of Washington.
