Do exercise bikes actually work?

No exercise bikes just sit there.You have to work them. If you do, regularly, you will lose weight and will get fitter. Mostly hips and legs you need to work your abs as well. Most important tip I can give you is, If you work out seven days a week, you will feel like working out.If you work out three days a week, you will hate it.
