Do Ducati's get stolen much?

I just got a 848 and it's not too hard to steal from my gated garage. I have nothing to chain it to. But I'm wondering if thieves know that the bike won't run without the key or keycode?

if it aint bolted down, they will steal anything !!!.bikes,tv ,xbox whatever.thieves are opportunists.they wont care if they can start it then, will pick it up anyway.purchase a floor bolt lock [dynabolts to concrete floor]and chain.[most dirt bike m/c stores carry them] i think kryptonite is one brand.will give you a little peace of mind anyway.depending on your insurance policy the excess for theft is far greater than for an accident.mine goes from $500[accident],$500 stolen[ at home country area] to $5000[if stolen within greater sydney area !!!. hj

I don't think the thieves will care if it starts, just think how much more all those unscratched OEM faring, and wheels and forks and levers and all the rest of it is worth parted out on Ebay. I wonder if just getting something like a Nemesis to replace the ECU would make the motor run without the key? I'm sure the guy who just stole your bike knows.

They say one ducati gets stolen every 3 days.

You'd think after the second time he'd learn.

Best security you will buy is full comprehensive insurance.

a mate used to have a TL 1000R suzuki, he lived in a 'secure' garage apartment block. It had TWO sets of yoshi pipes stolen from it. Of course the security cameras were broken both times. Even if it is bolted down, they can still strip it.

Oh and post pics.. Fill in your profile and PM me your address

check out the Kryptonite Stronghold Above Ground Anchor. i had one installed in my garage, but i've seen them in apartment buildings as well. that and the Kryptonite Super Armored Cable will give them a lil bit of a challenge. but before we installed the anchor the bf would have it tied to the wheels of his broke a$$ (project) car that has 3k rims on it. so i knew he wasn't letting it go anywhere.

for what the anchor and lock cost, it's worth the peace of mind. at least if they're scoping out your place they know it will take more. w/ the anchor it's not so much an easy score as it would be w/ out.
