Yesterday, I brought home a new 18 week old cockatiel. I don't know the gender yet, but he/she's a common grey and I've noticed that he/she makes a very different sound to my existing pearl cockatiel. The common grey cockatiel seems to chirrup and make noises very similar to an old fashioned telephone, whilst the pearl cockatiel just tweets rather loudly.
Is this normal? Could they be different genders?
The noises are very much like this, but without the beak tapping.
