Do cops check the VIN number of a car, when reporting for a FIX-IT ticket?

Recently, I got a ticket for having tinted windows on my vehicle, that are a little over the allowed limit. I really don't want to remove the tints. A friend of mine has the same car as I do. We could exchange the license plates and go with his car (his windows are not tinted). Although there's one problem: Do they check the VIN number of the vehicle? It's the same car, same color, same version, license plates taken care of, and no dark windows.

Please Help.

Thank you.

when my mom got pulled over for speeding, they didn't check the vin. they just checked the lisence plate and probably check to see that the plates match the car.

in your case, the plates will match the car, but why go through all that trouble? if you somehow get caught, your screwed. if your letting your friend drive your car with excess tint, he's just going to have to pay for the next time he gets pulled over for tint.

not worth the risk, just put on a lighter tint.

Yes it's one of the first things they check to make sure the car isn't stolen. You might be able to fool who ever checks out the car for compliance IF they're in a hurry but the consequences are heavy if they figure it out. Personally I wouldn't take the risk.
