Do Clown Fish have to have a real Anemone growing in the tank to survive?

I am thinking about switching my tank to a salt water tank and just getting a pair of Clown fish and maybe a Regal Tang or something..I'm not sure yet. anyway, do I have to have a real growing Anemone and/or real growing coral in my tank for them to thrive?? Thanks!
Are they really hard to keep? I've kept my tropical tank perfectly kept for a year, but feel like the fish aren't as pretty as the Clowns...will I have to make huge changes to make the tank suitable for them?
I haven't really done much research on the Tangs, I just threw that one out because of Nemo (which my Son loves) I have done research on Clown Fish though and it does seem like certain species of them are very easy to care for...any suggestions on a couple small colorful tank mates for the Clown pair? Thanks everyone for your help!! You all know your stuff!
