Do Canadians think its harsh to punish same-sex marriage with jail/execution?

In many African countries, same-sex marriage is not only illegal, it is PUNISHED with life in prison without the possibility of parole.

In certain middle east countries (I won't name them out see the link below) the penalty for ATTEMPTING same-sex marriage is even punished directly with "The Death Penalty (capital punishment)". And that is not a lethal injection or electric chair death sentence. It's the painful version.

So my question is HOW harsh or unusual do Canadians think it is to use Capital Punishment as the consequence for two persons of the same gender, seeking a marital relationship? And how does Canada perceive these countries that impose this penalty for this?

In comparison:
In the USA, even the states that don't recognize gay marriage nor civil unions, it's an issue of equal marital benefits in the law, not a matter of the act being punishable. There are no criminal charges.

BUT....what do Canadians think of the policies in some of the other countries in Africa and the Middle East where it is ILLEGAL punishable by life imprisonment if not Death?
