Do arrest warrants get dropped after so many years of you not being arrested?

My husband is convinced for some reason that if you have a warrant out for say a speeding ticket that you didn't pay, if you live so far away they wouldn't arrest you in another state for it, he thinks like after 20 years of not catching you they just drop the warrant. Is this true? I do not believe that at all, once a warrant is issued, it's out until you either take care of it or get arrested right? Even 50 years later if you got pulled over in the county the warrant was out of, you would still be arrested right? Did all that make since? Thanks in advance for settling this debate we have been having for a few days now lol
