Do Americans really call Flimsy Light Refracting Information Slices "CDs"?

I'm from the UK and I have an American friend who called it a CD.

Do you all call it a CD? The ones that have music in them?
Here in the UK we call them by their name, Flimsy Light Refracting Information Slices.
