Do Americans Realize How Ridiculously Stupid Their News Is?

I just watched about 30 seconds of CNN (which I never do), and not just any old CNN, this is PrimeTime, friday night, headline news, and what are they talking about?

a) That an elephant beat a human in a hotdog competition at the State Fair.
b) Michael Jackson's monkey "Bubbles" and what he's going to do now.

Do Americans realize that this isn't news? Do they know that most countries don't give a sh-t about that sort of thing? Do they know that there are real things going on in the world? This isn't news - It's tabloids hey and entertainment.

And don't even get me started on Fox.
*Tabloids and entertainment.

Oh get off your high horse, I looked at the UK news and they had 13 different stories on michael Jackson in the same day.

They report on what people want to hear about because they are there to make money not report the news. They are a business 1st and a news outlet about 5th down on the list

If you want news, listen to Fox.

The others will fill their time with Bubbles and elephants so they don't have time to tell you about how badly Obama is doing. Their hero.

It's State run TV, everything has to be cleared thru headquarters ( The White House) first , Obama just can't let them report real news, it would make him look bad, they must be entertainers, until he gives them the propaganda to report, our news is no different than North Korea's, even the government agencies report false information, the experts report false information, you can't trust anything coming out of DC anymore, The guy from the EPA was censured and fired, because he was giving the correct Information about the environment and Global Warming ,an Inspector General was fired for doing his job, when they do have a town hall meeting , it's all staged with Obama supporters asking the questions
I'm ashamed of my government and I understand your frustration*******************

Go ahead, start on Fox. Let's hear what you saw tonight on Fox. I caught BBC tonight on PBS and it was the same drivel with an English accent.

Yes. Shameful isn't it? Unfortunately, it's the byproduct of the 24 hour news cycle. The "news" has to fill the available time, no matter how inane.

I know! It makes me so mad. For a full two weeks I click on the news, and the first 5 things for a full two weeks almost always had Micheal Jackson in it. For a week, each day there was a 30 minute segment for him. It's annoying. Media sucks.

I wish more of my fellow Americans realized how poor the mainstream media truly is; it's akin to the Roman gladiator games.

Most of us do. The others don't know the difference between pop culture and reality. That explains why we have a buffoon in the White House.
