DJ Premier is by far the best rap/hip-hop producer

You can nod your head to all of his beats and they are consistently good. He has been mixing and producing since the 80s. He is creative and shows that sampling is an art when done properly. You can't argue about who he's worked with either:

Jay-Z, Big L, B.I.G, Nas, M.O.P., KRS-One, Mos Def, J Live, Group Home, Lox, Guru (of course), Royce Da 5'9, Rakim, some of wu-tang, and much more...

Just listen to ANY of the GangStarr albums, and don't be surprised if your favorite Nas, Jay-Z, KRS-one, etc songs are produced by him.

Yea Primo is one of the best producers, I just don't know if I could put him as the best, I don't know who i'd put as the best producer but primo is def top 3. Truth is i'm just tired of his drums, it just sounRAB like he uses the same drum kit alot of the time, I got to to the way he programs his drums though.

As for me Havoc is def my fav producer, no question he can hold down an album & I love the fact that he's starting to branch out to different artists now outside the mobb fam, time for him to flex his production skills on people.

i don't know much about RJD2. I really like his new album though. Does he do anything other then instrumentals (if so with whom)? Haven't heard of Prefuse 73

His new album is good.. but it sucks compared to Deadringer..

He's done a lot of work w/ hip hop artists.. a lot on Def Jux and whatnot

Prefuse 73 is amazing.. check out One Word Extinguisher... great CD

and if you want a great hip hop artist w/ beats from both of those guys, check out Diverse - One AM RJD2 does like half of the beats I think, Prefuse has a few , and other guys do the rest

Yup Dan The Automator is definately my fav hip hop producer.
