Dizziness

I sometimes get a feeling of dizziness and lightheadedness for now reason, like this morning for example. Yesterday i had a full frontal headache which i put down to sinusitis as i do suffer from this and this morning the postman knocking on my door woke me up so i quickly went downstairs and after he's gone i got this really horrid dizzy feeling so i had to sit down as i started to panic but i've had this feeling all day today and i can't bend down without it getting worse. I'm 47, female and obese so i'm starting to think of all sorts what could be causing it. I thought could it be heart problems as i do tend to have highish cholesterol but i am keeping a close check on it as i test myself regulary (i have my own cholesterol monitor) and last week it had gone down considerably which i was pleased about. I also in May this year had a LifeLine Screening to check any probs with my heart and the results came back fine. I think i will go and see my GP next week but my main health problems at the moment are that i am obese, have moderate blood pressure, highish cholesterol and suffer from acid reflux. I am also going through peri-menopause so wonder whether this 'feeling' is to do with any of these conditions but isn't it a symptom of something underlying wrong with me? Anyone who has had dizzy feelings of any sort know how scary it is, the cause could be anything so how can the GP rule out anything serious? i'm really worried about it.

You could be sufferring from Benign Positional Vertigo (BPV). It happens when particles in the inner ear get dislodged from their normal positions and the brain then interprets slow movement as fast movement, which causes vertigo (dizziness). An ENT can easily diagnose this and if you do have it, there are exercises of the head and neck that will "kick" the particles back to where they belong.
