Dizziness - what tests are there for it?

I'm getting dizzy spells quite frequently just lately (even when sitting down still) and my GP has sent me for a full blood test and has suggested i get my eyesight checked again which i am doing. I was wondering what tests they do for dizziness / vertigo? i'm just wondering what the next step is if all my results come back OK. My ears don't feel right either so it could be a possible inner ear problem, it feels like there is pressure all the time.

anybody got any advice?

There are various tests that can be done for dizziness, though the physicains will request the follwing tests according to your symptoms and their findings through a check up and through what they suspect may be causing the problem. Unfortunately it's not son simple. You should definately see an ent because they have the proper tools to check your ears, it may be vertigo, which is caused by an inbalance of your inner ear.

This is true that it can be quite complicated to find out the source of dizziness. A regular blood test is definitely the first thing to do since it's pretty simple and can rule out anything easy to find. Next, I'd look into the inner ear disorder since that's also very possible. It could also be your eyes, as you mentioned. Other things it may be can be sinus/allergy problems, food allergies, sleep disorders, and other items. I find that I get dizzy very easily from sinus pressure, even if I don't have the typical sneezy allergies and feel fine. Also, make a list of any other symptoms you may be having to see if there is a connection. For example, I've recently had some jaw pain along with headaches and think I may have TMJ or something similar, as well as sinus issues. Take your notes of all symptoms and if there is any particular time of day you notice they get worse or any activities that make it worse when you visit your doctor. Best of luck to you and hope you feel better soon!

I also suffer from dizziness. I know mine comes from Migraines and not ear. My GP has a test that I wear some thing on my head and leads are attached to my forehead, cheek, Temple, ect. I dont know the name of the test but it uses a laser on the wall and measures my reaction and movement with the laser. It's suppose to determine if dizziness was neurologial or ear situation. (which mine was neurological due to the migraines). Hope this helps.
