Dizziness at times

I have been getting dizzy at times when I wake up in the morning. It doesn't happen very often, but when I do get it, it feels like I want to fall to the floor. I also have been taking Advil alot for pain in my right ankle, so I don't know if the advil is causing dizziness or not.

Any adive would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lots of things cause dizziness so it's really hard to say. You should see your doctor. Meds can cause that as well as sinus and ear trouble. Good luck! I hope your ankle feels better.

Sometimes if we get up too quickly from a sitting or lying down position, our blood pressure falls a bit and we get dizzy/faint.

Does it go away once you are up and about?

If this is the only time you feel dizzy, try getting out of bed more slowly and see if that helps.

Thank you for replying. The dizziness sometimes goes away after a few hours. The past two times, which happened a while ago and were spread apart, they lasted for quite a while. The first dizziness occured at night on a Friday after working out and I got so dizzy I could not see straight, everything was turning around and I had to sit down. Then, I was sick and dizzy still through the weekend and I didn't feel like eating anything. The second time, it happened in the morning and was dizzy for a few hours and then I felt fine. The third time, which was just recently (today), I was also dizzy for a few hours and then I felt better.

Sometimes before I go to bed, I take Excedrin for headaches, as sometimes at night I get headaches, and Advil for my ankle pain that keeps bothering me even though I had ankle surgery over a year ago. I take Excedrin and Advil together so that is probably one factor of the cause of dizziness in the morning.

One other thing, for the past few weeks, I have noticed my left eye twitching everytime I yawn or sneeze. It does that for a little while and then it stops. I don't know if that has anytihng to do with the dizziness at all.

Cassie,

These dizzy spells sound like they need further investigation...only because you mention they sometimes go on for several hours. I thought that you just had quick low-blood-pressure "rushes" as you got out of bed, from which we recover quickly once standing for a minute or so. But since you say they last longer, why not make an appt for a good physical work-up?

Taking a lot of Advil AND Excedrin together is (and you know this!) not a great idea. You are virtually taking ibuprofen, aspirin, tylenol and caffeine all at the same time, every time you do it.

Plus you sound like you are taking the Excedrin prophylactically "in case" you get a headache. Those night-time headaches are a royal (blank), I know. Mine are caused by a mildly arthritic neck. Much better now that I have a better pillow.

As for your twitching eyelid after you sneeze, that's very common. It's just fatigued muscle fibers firing. Of no significance.

But, do see your doctor...dizziness can be caused by a billion things, most benign and totally correctible, so why suffer?
