"DIY MODS" and TRICKS to SAVE $$$$$$

I received NO JOY when I tried the DIY 2 x 1 Exhaust system tip given in 2007. My scoot a 2005 FLHPI.

The bike came to me used with Python slip-ons in place that exhibited the infamous "pops", so I picked up some use parts for $20.00 and attempted the suggested change. For around town, the idea seemed fine, but after getting on the e-way I found discoloration in the muffler and a loss of mileage.

I used a left and right mufflers as well as a right from a later model King. After drilling many holes in the newer muffler it seemed to stop bluing and my mileage returned to normal, so I seem to have most of the results I wanted, along with a nice exhaust note. However, I still felt that I was creating too much heat with the system.

Using a single Python worked very well but..."pop"

I am just finishing the S&S cam gear change and have to run the Pythons again for a while, as some bozos on eBay, who sold me a set of stock 04 mufflers I wanted, sent me a set of 09 mufflers I did not.

If the Pythons work well after the cam gear work I will leave them on. If not, I will go back to a 3into2 and vent the mufflers I have coming from another eBay source until I get the sound mileage and exhaust note I want - with greatly diminished or unnoticeable pops.

Ride safe.

Not really sure where to post this, so apologies if it's in the wrong place.

Finally fixed the welder this evening and started building this. Anyone want to guess what it's going to be?

Yep. Tomorrow, I gotta' pick up some nylon tubing for the rails, hooks for helmets, and an orange rattle-can. I'm also going to build a rack for the saddlebags, to rest on while I'm washing the bike.

When it's all done, I'll have less than $40 in materials for these two projects. I've seen both of these for sale online, and it looks like it would cost about $200, plus shipping to buy these. I'll post a couple more pics when I'm all done.

I took an auto sunvisor organizer and strapped it to the top of my teather in my bag. I thought I might pemanantly attach it but never did. It works well. I keep small stuff in it. Documents, sunscreen, lip balm, pen/paper. It will hold glasses too but I clipped my eyeglass holder on the seat strap. Being it's black leather, it blends and works well.

Finished the saddlebag rack yesterday.

Most of them I've seen, you can only put the bags on with the latches facing out. I made mine so you can use it for more than just a storage rack. I can position the bags on the rack, so that I can wash both the front and backside. I added the casters so it's easier to move it around while you wash/wax the bags. I also built it to accomodate both standard bags, and stretched bags. I added the clear tubing on the support bars to protect the paint on the bags. I went online this morning and ordered some little black square plugs for the ends of the tubes, to give it a more "finished" look.

Did the tour pack relocation mod over the weekend. I took a piece of steel angle iron and split it into to flat pieces. Then I drilled the holes in the original location to mount the pack to the detachable bracket, and drilled the set of holes 2" back to mount the pack to the new brackets. Tested it out today and it seemed to work great. Now I have to take it all a part again and clean it up, trim them down a bit, and paint them up.

Here is how the pack looks 2" back.

I am looking for the same thing. I have windshield, sissy bar and luggage rack. I would like the drawing you're using or where you got it from along with material lists. Thanks.
