Divorce Help: Custody and Court?

My parents are divorcing, and i know im going to live with my mum, im not hugely biasised as too who i live with, and my mum seems like the most practical option as my dad works a long day...
At the momnet my parents seem fairly neutral in general, apart from finances and a little bit on custody...
I was wondering wether I'd have to speak to anyone about it, or have to go through anything legal at all...???
I would rather live with my dad, but it's simply impossible, due to the fact that he works 5-8 most days, and where he lives i couldnt get to school from at all...
 
You may be asked for your opinion as you are old enough to have an opinion & reasons for your choice. Any interview would be conducted without your parents & your views considered. I believe this is done through UK Courts. You are not required to be part of the legal process. Best wishes.
 
Based on your previous question, why would you want to live with your mum? Seems to me that your dad is truly hurt and depressed about the whole thing, and would appreciate and benefit greatly from your company. And wouldn't you resent your mother for what she has done to your dad? You could make your preference known to the court about who you wish to live with, and they should consider your wishes. Check to see whether the courts have a children's representative in divorce cases that you might speak to for information.
 
Given my experience with custody, if your parents come to an agreement during the divorce about who you will live with there should be no problem, However, if you are in between a tug of war the court will usually take your opinion (if you are an older child) into consideration by interviewing you with a judge or court personnel and the court will decide who you should live with.
