Hi, i'm new here, but i'm glad to have found a forum to voice a nagging question i have on diuretics.
i've become aware that there are different types of diuretics, 'loop diuretics', 'potassium-sparing' ect. but i can't find any 'reliable' information on caffeine's affect as a diuretic----specifically, i want to know, is it a diuretic that stimulates potassium or sodium or magnesium excretion?
something tells me that it might just be sodium excretion, but i'd really like to know.
i'm asking in the context of white, and green teas, because i drink alot of them, although i've read that they actually contain potassium.
i eat & drink alot potassium and magnesium foods, like tomato based sauces(almost every night, lol!) and most significantly, alot of cocoa aswell, which contains alot of potassium and magnesium,
so i'm on the lookout for a natural diuretic which might balance my high potassium intake out,
i've been the the scary position where i've drank alot of cocoa throughout the day and got a high heart rate or 'arrythmia' like symptoms, which could border on hyperkalemia, so it means alot to me if i could find a future, direct potassium diuretic, (not that i'll go on cocoa binges though!!!)
( and cocoa has minimal/little caffeine, so that wasn't the cause)
i'd be really appreciative if any one has any extra info
thanks in advance!
