Exciting and intelligent, grown-up sci fi thriller that is also a powerful allegory on showing prejudice and racism in South Africa. Aliens known as "prawns" are treated like non whites under apartheid, in a film where (in effect), humans are the bad guys. The aliens want to go home, but the humans won't let them leave and are instead segregated into "District 9".
One of the best films I've seen this year.

However, when a Government worker becomes infected with an alien fluid, he goes on the run and the aliens help him and he sides with them too. I thought he was a good man who recognised the faults and injustices of the system he worked for.
