Alright, I've got a 350 Chevy and I'm having trouble getting my distributor to seat. I recently changed the gear on the bottom of it and now i can't get it drop into the oil pump shaft. The gear is exactly the same as the old one. Height, width, the pin is in the same location everything is exactly the same. Before you tell me there is a notch on the shaft that it sets into I already know that. I'm not trying to be a smartass but I've been working on small blocks for almost 20 years.
I've tried turning the shaft of the pump this way and that with a screwdriver and even turned the engine over by hand trying to get it to drop and I've had my son bump it while I pushed down on the distributor. Now I'm kind of at a loss of what to try next. Any ideas?
