Two years ago, my friend and I were ticketed for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. I was not high, nor did I have any marijuana on my person. I was honest with the officer, and told him that I had handled the drug earlier that day. When I went to court, the Judge, who is an old friend of my father, granted me an ACD (Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismisal). That meant that as long as I stayed out of trouble with the law for six months, the charges would be dismissed. I am joining the Navy, and have always wanted to be on Sub Duty. Through a waiver process, I have acceptance into the Nuclear Power program, but I still am not allowed on a submarine. Keep in mind that the Judge is an old family friend who holds my father in the highest regards. My father is one of the most honorable men I know, and he raised an honorable son. I made a mistake. That day was the only day that I have ever even seen marijuana in my life. Should I ask the Judge to help me? Is there anything that he can even do? I have wanted to serve on a submarine for ten years. This means the world to me.
