Display # new messages on N73?

I know on some S60v3 phones (like the E50), it displays on the home screen the number of new messages that you have. Is there a way to display this information on the N73's home screen?

I was wondering about the same thing. Some of n93 users active standby screens displays subjects of new email. Im currently using gmail with the built in client (with auto update on) and I've never seen it post new messages on the active standby ever.
