worth it, Lee

brands/models/features you like or don't like? experiences to help us select
a unit? Do you know the benifits of or have esperience with the drawer
units?

one of the reasons i wanted personal experiences from people who actually
cook is that i have found the sales people have no idea there is such a
thing as a stock pot over six quarts, and they have no idea that people
still cann or preserve, lol, Lee

Janet...I got "over that" about twenty years ago......you know...The
Lennox...The Waterford...The Reed & Barton. I still have them but I
can't recall the last time I have even pulled them out of the
cabinet. As a matter of fact, I have though about sending my "pattern
list" to Replacements, Ltd! Maybe eBay might be a consideration.

If it can't go in the dishwasher...we don't use it any longer. No
one has even noticed we don't serve double handle cream soup bowl with
a nice lace doily under....

Forgot to mention something. Find out who does the repair work for
the one you want. Then go talk to them. Find out how long to
respond, get parts and finish the job.

Before I moved here I purchased my appliances from an independent
appliance store. The first thing I bought there was a washing
machine. Mine quit working, I had a small baby and was scheduled for
surgery in about 4 days. Asked Sears and a couple of other places
when I could get it delivered. Next week. Asked my independent when
and he said "is this afternoon ok?" I went home and called my DH and
told him I was buying the washer. Called the store back and said
bring it. They had their own repair people. Never had to worry
about where to get things fixed.

Haven't had to have anything fixed that DH couldn't handle since we
moved here. But I do know who Lowe's recommends and where they are
located. It happens to be almost next door to the mill where we get
grits and cornmeal. I also know how to order parts from Bosch and get
them in a couple of days.

My personal experience is that when I buy the appliances that consumers
report has rated highly, I've been very happy with them.

We remodeled our kitchen 2 years ago and the highest rated dishwasher at
that time was a Sears Kenmore (about $900) and we've been happy with it
since.
