Well it would seem that my 9200 is slowly giving up the ghost: VuPass Timers never work and manual timers are starting to fail. Trouble-shooted in the past and so I called today to use my Dish Care plan to replace it.

The CSR said that I would be sent a receiver 'with similar features.' When I asked him if this meant a dual tuner HDTV PVR, he said he could only say that it would have similar features. I said that this isn't much of an assurance for me. Nevertheless, he said it would arrive in 3-5 days and then forwarded me to a supervisor's voicemail (not holding my breath for a return call!).

Has anyone used Dish Care and received something of lesser value/functioning? Best case scenario is a 9242 but, at the very least, it better be a 9200.

I can't see it being a lesser receiver. The main features of your unit are HD and PVR. The only models Bell carries that do that are the 9200 and the 9242 as you mentioned.

They can not replace a receiver by one of a lower value. I would think that you 9200 will be replaced by a refurbished 9200, if your lucky by a 9242

2700 at some point started being replaced by 3100

Surprise, surprise! I received a call (a voicemail) from the supervisor who assured me that it was a 9200 on its way. Now how easy would it have been for the original CSR to say that the receiver will be equal to or greater than that which it is replacing? Why introduce doubt at all?

Dish Care is 6$/month...it covers all piece of equipement, but does not include tech's fee. You need to suscribe for a minimum of 1 years, or else early termonation fee of 35$ will apply. For more details go to: http://www.bell.ca/shopping/dish_care.details

The person that called you back is most probably not a supervisor...it's probably a TECH3 agent, the departement responsible for replacing receivers. I don't know why the agent acted that way, sincewhen he put you on hold to make the order for the replacement he had to call that departement. If je didn't know he could have asked

I doubt it...receivers are usually replaced by the same model. 9242 is considred a different model

You may want to ask the agent when you cll in to make the claim...or theath to disconnect. They will probably give in instea of losing a client

i have had 7 9200 exchanged becuase they would not recieved sat 82. csr told me that i would get a 9242 for my inconvinenece but never put comments so i spent 4 hours on the phone yelling. eventually i got 400 program credit got a brand new 9200 and went out and bout at 9242 for 550. not bad considering i paid 150 for a 9242 and now had 2 hd pvrs
