The United States suffered many hardships during WWI. Soldiers lost their lives, civilians gave up their conveniences, wedding rings to contribute to the war effort. After losing so much; Americans did not want to get involved in the wars and politics of other nations. We wanted to rebuild America. We essentially closed the boarders, stopped trading and minded our own business.
