a) Increase of the polyunsaturated fatty acid component of the phospholipid.
b) Increased amount of cholesterol within the membrane.
c) Decrease of environmental temperature for a poikilotherm (animal whose body temperature is dependent on the environmental temperature).
I'm taking this practice quiz and I think i understand them I just wasnt sure and wanted to make sure that I was right. for a) increasing it would decrease the permeability right? Because there would be more kinks and the fluidity would slow down in the membrane?
b) Increased amounts of cholestrol definitely decreases the permeability .
c) This im not so sure. I know poikilotherms are conformers and if the temperature decreases, so does their internal environment...and that would cause fluidity to decrease as well right? thanks!!
