power hungry intellectuals, increasing population of poor peasants, and a very oppulent royal family out of touch with the people's living conditions and hunger

consequences, the power hungry intellectuals became the leaders of the republic, and made somewhat similar mistakes and were anihilated and replaced by other ones, and ultimately, France became just a country, never again a major world power.
