Discus fish is actually amongst the first first fishes i've kept and i've been quite successful so far... I'm thinking of opening up a new tank full of plants and full of discus. I've read many articles on the net about water changes and although there are many different reports, they are all so EXTREME. I mean 50% water change 4 times a week, 25% everyday etc...
Currently i have 4 discus(they are all around 14cm) 4 clown loach 1 sailfin pleco and 1 black ghost knife all in a 210 litre tank with filter running at around 500l/h which is the actual rate i tested not the rating. I do water changes once every month at 90%, and i keep my pH at a low 6-6.2
My discus seem to be doing fine growing at decent rate, but are these water changes suggested by many articles really necessary?
If you keep discus fish please share me your water changes opinions/experiences thanks
