fish are oppertunistic eaters, in the wild they go for days or weeks with no food, then gorge themselves when they find some. they dont feel hungry and full the same way that mamels do. in an aquarium, they can and will eat till they get sick and evan die.
feed fish no more than they can finish in 3 minutes once a day. or what the can eat in one minute twice a day., especially if your fish are more active at different times of the day
its best to feed at oproximitly the same time everyday. they will remember, they get excited and come out to eat around feeding time., less food will be wasted and you can be sure everyone is eating good.
take care, discus are AWESOME!

i have three discus round 4 inches i feed them 4 times daily frozen, live food for the frozen how do you know when they are full or if you fed them enough plus in the morning my amazon discus is more active the my blue diamond and pigeon blood discus but round the afternoon they become active i dont want to overfeed but i dont want to underfeed i feed them but they want more and more food isnt a issue but damn these fish are pigs

If your feeding schedule isn't more than the water quality maintenance (do you have to change water more often,or more volume,to keep nitrates in check?),then I wouldn't worry about it.
As long as you are feeding portions that are being completely consumed by them,I wouldn't alter it until they started "wasting" food.
Discus ,like most fish species, metabolism will slow down more as they reach maturity... so watch for signs of when to cut back.Actually watch your fish feed and determine portions and frequency to feed.

Overfeeding in cichlids will cause obesity and fatty deposits on their internal organs due to the lack of exercise they get in aquarium. Also take into account that NO fish, once mature,is designed/evolved to have a continuous, scheduled, food intake. So basically, leave it be until there are signs you need to cut back... as long as every one is growing and looking healthy then they are getting enough.
