Discovered something cool about a song I like

Not very familiar with Joe Purdy, put my fiancee but a few of his albums on my laptop, and I've been listening to it today at work. I found one particular song that I liked a lot, and, unable to find any lyrics on the 'net, I transcribed it myself.

The song is off of an album called, "You Can Tell Georgia," and it's called, "Ode to Sad Clown."

The chorus goes:

And I'm gonna fill this whiskey cup
And I'm gonna pick this banjo up
I'm gonna play with the tragedies
Singin' good time harmonies
Be right don't you let me down
Play that one called sad clown
I know that one's about me
I've been thinkin' about leavin' town

Some of those lines didn't make sense. And it occurred to me that he might be referencing something. So I look up Joe Purdy's wiki page. One of his band members is a guy named Brian Wright. So I look up Brian Wright. He has a band, called Brian Wright and the Waco Tragedies. They have a song called 'Sad Clown.'

Now this makes sense:

And I'm gonna fill this whiskey cup
And I'm gonna pick this banjo up
I'm gonna play with The Tragedies
Singin' good time harmonies
B. Wright don't you let me down
Play that one called 'Sad Clown'
I know that one's about me
I've been thinkin' about leavin' town

Neat.
