discontinued? No more Palm os?

A friend of mine bought a TX the other day and told me that he had had a hard time finding one due to the fact that they are discontinued. What? Apparently rep at the store (I'm not sure which I'm assuming Staples) told him that the TX and Lifedrive were both discontinued. The rep also told him that Palm was discontinuing palm os and moving to a windows platform. Now, the last part I've heard but thought that that wasn't going to happen until 2009. Is this all a load of crap or what? Checking the internet revealed nothing to me about these new models being discontinued.

I recon its all hogwash -esp when the source is staples!!

I dunno i kinda feel that the palm os will live on in not throu palm itself then perhaps as pda version of linux.

Anyway - they are still selling Tx/Z72/life drives on the website. but the way it is going i wouldnt be surprised if something else doesnt get released soon.

Dont forget that the new rumoured treos (hollywood + cant remember the other one) are both supposed to be running on palm os.

anyone else in the know heard different??
