Hi there,

I suffered from sciatic pain for almost a year.....radiating down my left buttock all the way down to my foot. Never really had any back pain though. The MRI showed a buldge at the L5-S1. It got to a point that I could not even stand up anymore. Tried the spine injections with little success and then physical therapy with no luck.
Finally had a diskectomy on March 31, 2008. Surgery went well but I was unable to take the pain meRAB because they made me sick. I can take meRAB if my stomach is completely full....otherwise, I vomit or stay sick feeling all day. It has been 18 days since the surgery and I am doing pretty well and have stopped the meRAB completely. I walk every day and try not to do anything else yet. Hard for me since I own a farm....but, never want to go through this again, so I am taking it easy. After the surgery I no longer had the sciatic pain that I had before the surgery. I am still having a little bit of tingling once in a while, especially at night when I sleep. I am having a little bit of muscle soreness in my left leg and I feel weak and get a tired sort of easy....again, hard to take since I used to do so much and be able to work non-stop 18 hour days. Time to start looking at life a little differently I think......get rid of some of that type A personality of mine that has to be on the move 24/7. Smelling the flowers is the thought mode I am shooting for.
It is a little frightening reading some of the posts on this site.......too many negative stories which is why I am posting with some positive. It is good to read it though too....because every time I read a bad story....it causes me to slow down and not try to push this too fast which is my tendancy. I am hoping for the healing process to continue until I am good as new. So far, I am glad that I had it done......the pain has decreased significantly and I can actually see the benefits more every day.
