Disable Backlight?

Hello,
Just picked up a Palm TX over a Dell Axim. So far its okay. I really hate that I cannot multi-task though. Hopefully palms battery life will make up for that?

I had a question about the backlight. In pocket tunes deluxe, there's a feature to have the backlight turn off, and still have the music playing. Is this possible without pocket tunes? For example, turning off the backlight.. putting it in your pocket and still being able to get instant messages from people?

Basically just having the palm running normally, but having the backlight off to save power.


Also.. can you disable the wifi auto off feature? I've found something that keeps the Palm from turning off. (AlwaysON from freewarepalm.com).. but I need something that will keep wifi on also

I think a little app called brightnessfix may do what you want. You can find it here: http://www.palmpowerups.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=2 The built in brightness pref doesn't let you set the brightness to "off", but on my T3 this app will. You may also want to look at this: http://shop.my-symbian.com/Platform...0&productType=2&platformId=1&productId=168297 Which works in conjunction with brightnessfix. I haven't tried it yet, but it says it will work on the TX.

I have a T3 but I believe if you hold the digital time button (eg 12:30am) at the bottom of the screen it gives you a slider to turn the brightness to any level you wish, as well as a battery indicator and memory remaining/used chart.

The problem is that the TX as standard won't let you turn the backlight off, just turn it very low. I can confirm that the Brightnessfix utility that Thingdriver mentioned is more flexible in this respect, ie. it will let you turn the backlight completely off.

That may not be what JHNguyen wants though - it sounds like he wants a screen-saver or screen-blanker, of the sort that's built into Pocket Tunes. A challenge for the software developers out there? (-:
