Direct download via wap?

I was wondering, is it possible to type in an internet address to say, a .mid sp-midi file and download it (without a wap site)?

I have not enabled wap on my phone yet.

For example, most wap sites just link to a normal web address for downloads such as ringtones, so it is possible to just type in this address directly so you don't need a wap site?
 
yes, it is possible, but don't you think the address would be extremely long, except if you have the 68xx model
