So I got an internship and had to fill out a form for direct deposit. As it is suggested, I am suppose to get the routing number, account number etc. from my checks. No problem. I did just that.

However, 2 weeks into my job, I look back and noticed something:

On my checks my account number has 9 digits (e.g. 123456123), but whenever i go to deposit something or look at my statements online, it has 10 digits! (e.g. 0123456123).

I've written checks to people and they have cashed through. Did I screw up?

Thanks!

If you have had your account for a long time what probably happened was the bank now has 10 digits so thats the reason they add a 0 in your statements and online. It will be fine if it's printed on your checks the system at the bank will pick up your account no. Dont worry everything will be fine.

=)
