Digoxigenin-labeled probes tend to be noisy as seen in fluorescent microscope?

I do dual fluorescence in situ hybridization using 5S and 45S with Digoxigenin and biotin labeled probes. The first time I did this technique, it was very successful--clean background and well-hybridized probes. However, recently, my dual-FISH results are quite unpleasant. The biotin-labeled probes have no background noise, but the dig-labeled probe is terrible! I could barely distinguish the background from the real signal. Can anybody help me with this? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
