Digitizer issues on Palm T series

I have a TT and have followed these forums now for the last 12 months or so.

One of the major issues has been the digitizer for the series (yeah yeah, the whole model line has had other stumbling blocks, memory card and other related problems for example)

But I am still surprised to see after following the issues with the T3, Palm one have not resolved the calibration issues.
This seems to me to be a fundamental element when you are talking about a device which has as it`s primary input method, digitizer input.

Just trying to access any of the touch screen icons is an exercise in frustration.

This is, to me a MAJOR failure in the overall function of the device.

Features are important in the marketplace when trying to sell a product. But day to day operation and reliability are where the brands reputation is built.

Anyone else agree or have input?

I fully agree, drives me crazy. I'm thinking of buying a Windows product..........[after 4 palm's starting with the Palm Pilot, I NEVER TOUGH TYPING THESE WORDS]

Yes, I did, a bit better but no solution!, contacted the helpdesk, It was send to the repairer, three!!! weeks without palm, good for another week, then again.......

by the way, HOTsync is not working via the cradle anymore.... while infrared is working [sloooooow]. If I put it in the cradle and press the button, the beep is there[3 times very fast] then it stalls... [tried bleutooth, no luck either]

I know [same sh*t, Different device], but I'm so disappointed in this machine, I bought It when is was just available here in Europe [fall 02] paid ? 600 [current exchange rate=$800,-]. I accepted the minor flaws the first year [no MP3, upper screen, out of line mem etc..] but I still have not a working machine, indtead PAlm produced T2/T3 and it seems that the support for the old product is not realy high[uhum..]

he but if somebody out there has a solution for me, please make me the happy palmer that I was for years

I do agree, and may provide input but no solution if you problem is exacly the same as mine. calibration requires too much attention, and this has been a problem ever since my 1st Pilot 5000 ! :(

But now this is different : Instead of the calibration of the digitizer getting so offset that I can't even reach the proper menu entry, exactly what occured with all mu pre-OS5 machines (ALL of them !) and that I solved with gizmos like re-digi, that pops up the calib. screen at each soft reset.

If your PB is this, then get redigi 1.0 at www.palmgear.com, it's freeware and even worth 5 box (or ?, 4 that matter)

now it is more vicious :

My calibration is slightly offset, just enought to get me very frustrated when I have to quickly do things, and if I ever enter the prefs calibration screen, I'll NEVER get out of it ! It deadlocks to the point of no-return, presenting me with as much arrows&targets than I wish to click !
Needless to say at this point, only a soft reset can save me.

.. And I'm back in the cold, my palm being only a fraction of what it really is (come on, it's a T|3 !)

If anybody has this problem, please share any idea with me, as this is plaguing me since months !

Thank you very much
