I just started digging my pond that I want to put some koi in. I read that the pond needs to be at least 4feet deep so my plan is to dig 2 feet and then build 2ft 4 inches above ground. I have only dug around 18 inches and I have reached standing water. Can I try to drain this and dig a little deeper or do I need to stop now and just build higher above ground? Thank you in advance for any help.
