Am going to take the entire rear end complete housing ,gears brakes and all from a 4cyl 5spd and install it in ranger with 3.0 6cyl 5spd. Are the gear ratios the same as I dont want to have lower ratio?
4 cylinder equipped vehicles usually had a lower gear ratio to compensate for the lower horsepower and torque of a 4 cyl versus a 6. Only way to tell for sure is to check the axles for code tags or pull the covers and count the teeth of the ring and pinion gears to determine the ratios.
