difference between HTC hero and HTC evo 4g phone?

Im gettin a new phone soon and my brother has an HTC hero. I just herd about the evo 4g coming out so I was wondering which would be better? Honestly I dont know much about phones or things like that with the whole apps and what not but lately its all been gettin my attention. Whats the difference between the 2
