Difference between Direct Fit/Universal Fit for Catalytic Converter on California Model

Honda Accord? Hi, I'm going to the mechanic in about 40 minutes...I can't find on the internet what the difference is between these two fits (direct/universal) but a previous mechanic said that I should opt for the direct fit because my 99 Accord is a California model. Can anyone help me out here?
