I dunno ...
I think if there's wit, you'd want to look at the clever way the Songs of Experience kinda bitch-slap the Songs of Innocence.
So you get a nicey-nicey poem like "The Lamb" and then "The Tyger" comes along to knock the slats out from under it ...
So maybe ...
You know ...and he's got poems ... that "weep weep weep" from the chimney sweep poem. Not really a gut-buster, but I guess that's wit.
And ... you know ... that line about the "marriage hearse" ... who hasn't let fall a rueful little chuckle over that one ...
The real fun/energy comes in "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell" ... where he busts out classics like "Sooner murder an infant in its cradle than nurse unacted desires." That's kind of funny ... or if not funny, it's fun to say it at inappropriate times. Like christenings or any time you're introduced to a baby. Give it a try.
