did this guy just use me for an ego boost?

he gave me an obivious impression of liking me, and i flirted with him back. we would talk daily(he's really shy, so am i so it was mostly online for hours everyday)
we planned to go out and about a week later he tells me "idk if i want to make anything official because i still have lots of ppl to meet and i'm not completely sure on who i like"

i knew he was talking about this new chick that came to our school,but his best friend told me that she lead him on and that he doesn't like her.

but he hasn't shown intrest in talking to me since he told me that.

i don't understand it....i actually caught him staring at me and he turned around really fast when i saw him...why would he do that if he didn't like me in the first place?? and he told his friends about me i the beginning also
well the whole "liking him more" definitely worked...i want him more than i did when we were talking

Yeah, he is playing mind games with you. If a guy really liked you, he wouldn't say quote: "idk if i want to make anything official because i still have lots of ppl to meet and I'm not completely sure on who i like" he's trying to make it seem like he's more important then he really is. I would ignore him to get even, and move on..... that will take away his power.
