Did the media overhype the recession?

We are already rebounding from the recession. Some doomsday folks were saying the recession would be worse than the Great Depression. But Wall Street started recovering a month ago. It went from 6400 to 8500. And all signs are pointing to a recovery elsewhere in the economy.
 
Well look what they did with Swine Flu. And that has killed less people than the damn regular flu.

Never trust the media.
