Most books and websites I have found say that the Egyptians wore perfumed wax cones on their wigs. They are pictured in paintings in tombs etc., but apparently none have ever been found archaeologically.
Did they wear actual cones, or was it just the Egyptians way of showing that the wigs were scented in paintings?
