Oh come on! Do you really think Obama didn't know the coverage that mentioning lipstick on a pig would get, in any context.

These were his exact words:
"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. You can wrap up an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink after eight years. We've had enough,"

He did discuss the issues, very clearly. We want change, not a cover up.

McCain said it about Hillary & laughed when a reporter referred her as a *itch & was that okay for him to do? Why are conservatives talking so much about Obama's lipstick comment when McCain says the same thing & is anti woman since he doesn't believe in equal pay for women

He was referring to the issues dumba$$. He just made a remark about McCains lame policy to the economy.

This applies more to Mccain than Obama. The GOP uses lies and inuendoto run for president because they lose on every issue relevant to America.

Obama has been blind-sided by the popularity of Palin. Instead of discussing issues, which he never does anyway other than his 'talking points' and impossible promises, he's been on the defensive against the VP nominee. Not very 'presidential', is it?

If you would bother to listen to the whole paragraph, you would see that he was discussing the issues. Issues that the McCain/Palin camp were avoiding, or trying to make them seem like they are change.

He just borrowed an expression that McCain had used himself on several occasions, And Obama has tried unsuccessfully to keep this about issues but somehow th Republicans keep twisting everything he says and using it to enrage their potential voters.

Yes that would be my guess. He does not want to address any issues. Then people would know he goes where the wind blows.

He was discussing the issue about economy when he made that remake. He was discussing the obvious differences in McCains logic.
